Laminectomy / Laminotomy

 

Lamina: bone posterior to the spinal cord and lumbosacral thecal sac that is removed completely (laminectomy) or partially (laminotomy) to open up the vertebral canal posteriorly.

Neurosurgical procedures: LAMINECTOMY 

One of the most commonly performed neurosurgical operations.

Risks and complications: LAMINECTOMY

Although a relatively simple operation, there are risks and complications associated with the procedure.

Sometimes done in conjunction with  foraminotomy.
